The Internet was able to quickly turn around a tourist’s disappointment to something lighthearted for everyone. As per reports, Xie Chengxuan, a Taiwanese tourist in Singapore, was unhappy with after missing out on a photo op with the famous Merlion. Soon, he found his fix on the Internet!
Xie Chengxuan shared a picture of himself posing in front of the area where the famous Merlion sits and asked social media users for solutions.
They didn’t disappoint.
The tourist asked the HKB 笑笑無煩惱 on Facebook to help him with the problem and soon users came up with solutions- albeit hilarious.
Needless to say, most people took the opportunity to be creative. They wasted no time to edit the original image and add their signature touch.
One group user replaced the Merlion statue with multiple images of Xie Chengxuan himself, while another thought it was the right moment to alter the popular attraction with the Great Sphinx of Giza.
Other suggestions by the users triggered hilarious reactions from the group’s members as people had a field day at Xie Chengxuan’s expense.
The tourist, however, could have avoided the disappointment in the first place had he been a little attentive. As per reports from September this year, Singapore authorities had put out a public message stating the unavailability of the Merlion.
The statue is currently undergoing maintenance works. The 12-week period will end on December 13, later this year.
So, anyone trying to get a photo of the Merlion, plan carefully, or be at the mercy of editors. On the other hand, the edits must have brightened the day of several people with the hilarious renditions.
