India may have won a semi-final place after their victory over Bangladesh, but the person who truly won everyone’s hearts was Charulata Patel – an 87-year-old Indian cricket super fan who was in attendance at Edgbaston yesterday.
Age is truly just a number as proved by Charulata, who gave all the young fans around her a run for their money, as she enthusiastically cheered the Men in Blue to victory – videos of her went viral when shown by the host broadcaster.
After the match, both skipper Virat Kohli and Man of the Match Rohit Sharma took the time out to go and meet the octogenarian.
In fact, so impressed was he by Charulata, that Mahindra Group’s chairman, Anand Mahindra has agreed to sponsor her tickets for the rest of India’s matches at the World Cup.
Rohit gives autographed hat to injured fan
Rohit Sharma hit 5 sixes in his knock of 104 against Bangladesh and one of those unintentionally hit a fan in the stands.
However, Rohit made sure to check on the fan after the game and even presented her with an autographed hat.
