Visitors stuck in UAE due to COVID-19 border closures granted stay extension

Several visitors to the UAE, many of whom did not have a valid visa anymore,  could not leave the country due to closure of air and land borders. 
The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship of UAE (ICA), has confirmed that these visitors who are stuck until borders are reopened, will be granted permission to stay legitimately in the country.

They will also receive the necessary support in order for them to continue their stay in the Emirates. A specific mechanism for which will be announced in the few coming days, the ICA added.

In their official statement the authorities said, "The ICA is keen to deal with various developments arising from the measures taken at both regional and international levels to contain the spread of coronavirus, Covid-19, in a way that will ensure necessary care to all residents of the UAE." 

Earlier the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship had announced the suspension of travel and closure of borders as the UAE committed its attention and resources within the Emirates, in order to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
