WATCH: Crocodile enters residential area in northern India, caught

Incidents of crocodiles entering residential areas are on the rise in India, as rain continues to lash several parts of the country, resulting in the increase of water levels. In a similar incident, residents of a village in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur were shocked to discover a crocodile roaming free in their neighbourhood on Sunday.

The incident, which took in Sambharpur village, was caught on camera and the video of the crocodile is now going viral. One video showed the crocodile being tied to a post by a rope while locals surround it. Another showed officials loading it to a truck.

As per reports, locals captured the reptile and tied it to a post with a rope and informed the forest department. When officials arrived, they carried it back and later released it.

The villagers were alerted about the presence of the crocodile as the dogs started barking on spotting the reptile.

Luckily, the crocodile was spotted early and a major incident of a possible crocodile attack was averted. The crocodile reportedly entered in the village from the Ganga River which flows nearby.
