Speculations have been doing the rounds ever since India lifted the ICC T20 World Cup in June and skipper Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from the shortest version of the sport. With Sharma in his mid 30s, speculations are rife about his retirement from the game.
However, the Indian skipper put speculations of his retirement to rest at an event in Dallas on Sunday, July 14.
“I just said it. I don’t look that far ahead. So clearly, you will be seeing me play for a while.” Sharma said amid massive cheers from attendees.
Sharma is heard giving the statement in a video posted by X user Vimal Kumar. Rohit Sharma said he will continue playing for a few more years. The 37-year-old added that he is not thinking about the future as he wants to focus on the present.

Sharma helped the Men in Blue end their 13-year World Cup and 11-year ICC title drought by leading the team to T20 World Cup 2024 triumph by defeating South Africa in the Final in Barbados on June 29.
He, along with teammates Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja, announced their retirement from international T20 cricket.
