Actor Chris Hemsworth received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday. To make the event more memorable, he invited his MCU co-star Robert Downey Jr to be a part of it. Iron Man started with praising Hemsworth and doing a brief campaign for the upcoming Mad Max movie, Furiosa. But then, he roasted the Australian actor, evoking laughter from the attendees.
Downey Jr, who won the Academy Award for the Best Supporting Actor this year, for his role in Chris Nolan’s Oppenheimer, took help of other MCU cast mates to roast The God of Thunder.
The 59-year-old said he reached out to their MCU colleagues and asked them to describe Hemsworth in three words. “First off, [Jeremy] Renner says ‘absurdly annoyingly amazing’. [Mark] Ruffalo came in strong with ‘Friend from work’. That’s a callback, now I get it,” Downey Jr said amid laughter and applause from the crowd and Hemsworth.
“Scarlett [Johansson] got to the heart of it with ‘sensitive leading lady’. Captain America [Chris Evans] calls him ‘second-best Chris’,” he added.
For the unversed, Hemsworth and Downey Jr portrayed two Thor and Iron Man, respectively, two of the core Avengers superheroes in the MCU franchise. Chris Evans played Captain America, Scarlett Johansson portrayed the role of Black Widow, Jeremy Renner played Hawkeye, and Mark Ruffalo essayed the character of Hulk.
Hemsworth became the 2,781st star in the category of Motion Pictures on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, an iconic sidewalk attraction in Los Angeles that features the names of stars and honours their achievements in the industry.
