The music of Aditya Prakash embodies the complex ebbs and flows of heritage and diaspora.
Best known for his powerful and emotive voice, the American-born Indian classical vocalist is well-versed in his traditional craft. Karsh Kale – one of the pioneering figures in defining the Asian Underground genre – once said, Prakash is not afraid to take the art form into uncharted territories.
While pursuing his ethnomusicology degree at UCLA, Prakash studied composition under award-winning jazz musician, Tamir Hendlemen, and Hindustani vocal under Ustaad Shujaat Khan. His musical style is heavily inspired by North Indian classical music, Sufi music, Western classical, jazz, flamenco, and hip hop.
The talented musician will be performing in Singapore alongside his sister, celebrated Bharatanatyam dancer Mythili Prakash, in a collaborative production Mara – The Mastermind on Mar 24, at the Esplanade Theatres.
