PM Modi has used social media to reach out to people, especially youth and women, since he became prime minister of the country. Modi has also started several social media campaigns like 'selfie with daughter' to make people aware of the importance of the protection and education of the girl child.

He has also used different social media platforms to make people aware of the importance of cleanliness through his Swachh Bharat initiative, the most recent example of which was his plogging sojourn on a Mamallapuram beach, which went viral.

Apart from reaching out to people through social media, Modi has started the initiative of making his council of ministers respond to the queries and problems of common people that are brought to notice on social media platforms.
