Zilingo, the online shopping platform, which was earlier available in Bangkok extended its presence to Singapore earlier this year.
First entrepreneurial venture of young Indian expatriates Ankiti Bose, founder and chief executive officer and Dhruv Kapoor, founder and the chief technical officer is very well funded. After raising US 2 million dollars in seed funding, they raised US 8 million dollars in Series A funding.
Some other popular online shopping destinations in Singapore include Reebonz, Lazada, Carousell, Qoo100, Rakuten, Smooch the Label, Luxola among others.
Zilingo was started with the thought of offering a hassle-free shopping experience for sellers as well as buyers. They have partnered with more than 2,000 stores in Bangkok and Singapore that sell apparel, bags, accessories, shoes and lifestyle products to over half a million active users.
Registration for both buyers and sellers is currently limited to people living in Singapore and Thailand. Sellers can sign up on the platform directly to sell their products. Purchased products go straight from the buyer to the seller.
All the Thai brands on Zilingo can be found in Singapore. They include Jipata Swimwear, which sells handmade swimming apparel, and Blood B Plus Jewellery, which offers unique and modern accessories.
The company started with Bangkok because of the city's reputation as a fashion hub but hopes to be the go-to website for shops across South-East Asia.
Some of the famous Singaporean brands are also sold on Zilingo, like Lead Design, which sells framed typography, and watch brand Shoplavotre.
